Part-145 continues to evolve as EASA refines its risk-based oversight philosophy. For approved maintenance organizations, the latest revisions place more weight on how well a company manages its own risk, rather than simply checking boxes against a fixed procedure list.
What's different this cycle
- Management system integration — closer alignment between Part-145 and the safety management requirements already familiar from Part-M and Part-CAMO.
- Human factors documentation — more explicit expectations around recording and acting on human factors findings from maintenance error investigations.
- Subcontracting oversight — sharper requirements for demonstrating control over subcontracted maintenance tasks.
Organizations that already run a mature quality system will find much of this incremental. Those still relying on a static exposition and periodic internal audits alone should expect closer questioning from their competent authority at the next renewal.
